How Avery Arjang Got Started in Photography

Avery Arjang is a photographer and blogger currently operating all over the United States. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in digital photography, she decided to pursue a career behind the lenses of a high-resolution camera. Now, she travels to various states where people hire her to take wedding photos and document family events. Additionally, she also does a lot of nature shots that various magazines and online websites purchase directly from her.

Discovering Her Passion

As Avery Arjang went through high school, she excelled in every class that required creativity. That list involved painting, art appreciation, and ceramics, as well as some other short courses where she was able to utilize her imagination to the fullest. During her senior year, she was signed up for a project where her team had to document the local sporting events. After dividing the duties amongst her peers, she was the one selected to take photos. It was at this time that Ms. Arjang realized how much she enjoyed being behind a photographer.

A Hobby That Turned Into a Lifestyle

Following her teenage-year endeavors in photography, Ms. Arjang became very involved with the world of digital art by making it her daily hobby. She started learning about the way that photographers can have their own business, increase revenues, and retain long-term clients. After reaching a point where the only way to increase her knowledge was to get a degree, she enrolled in a 4-year program that would result in a bachelor’s degree in digital art. Her studies included an in-depth overview of technology as well as many months of hands-on practice. Ultimately, she graduated with a remarkable GPA and her hobby finally crossed a line where it became a career.

Barriers to Entry

As Avery Arjang soon realized, getting into the world of photography is not easy. Given that there is a lot of competition, one of the hardest things to achieve is a decent name recognition that will bring in customers. Originally, most of her projects came from friends and family as she gathered funds to launch an official website and purchase high-quality cameras. Regardless, the fact that she had to work with worse tools than most of her competitors only made her explore more possibilities. Consequently, she started tweaking the angles and photo effects in a way that made her shots appear breath-taking.

Establishing a Client Base

During the months that followed her graduation from college, Ms. Arjang worked on a lot of short-term, one-time projects. The plethora of such engagements came from people who were referred to her by previous customers. Eventually, however, she met individuals that were looking to hire a part-time photographer that can help run their social media platforms and post occasional updates. Given that social media was growing into a large market for everyone who wants to make their photography known, she gladly accepted these opportunities. Expectedly, the demand for her services started rising as the number of people that sought her work grew exponentially. Companies and individual buyers were interested in hiring her to document their special events, graduation days, weddings, and more.

Current Projects

Although Ms. Arjang got her start by working with social media pages, she now spends most of her time out of the office. The main reason for that transition came from the fact that she had to prioritize between work offers. With her academic background and a firm grasp of the business side of her job, she made a decision to dedicate her efforts to work as a sole proprietor. Thus, she ended most of her previously-successful projects where she was employed as a social media administrator. Nowadays, one can see Ms. Arjang travel all over the country as her clients invite her to follow them and photograph their pursuits.

Future Plans

As her business grows, Ms. Arjang continues to work towards her ultimate goal of having multiple studios in different states. Nevertheless, she still remains open to opportunities from around the country. Soon, however, she plans to settle in one of her successful markets by opening her first studio in that state and only serving the local clients. Doing so would enable her to save a lot of money that is currently allocated to miscellaneous expenses related to constant travel. Consequently, she would be able to invest in more tangible assets like stationary cameras and countless accessories. As of now, however, the fact that she has built an amazing reputation for herself is a good indicator that more success will follow.
